MAKE Architects was founded in 2013. We work in the fields of residential architecture, commercial architecture and public/community space designs. 

Based in New Zealand.


MAKE Architects is focused on creative, all encompassing design solutions tailored to our clients expectations. Typography of site and the characteristics inherent in project approach is all part of the collaborative and iterative design approach taken with every project.

Work produced by MAKE is considerate of clients wants, site context, spatial functionality, materiality all of which follows through to a finished product, delivering beyond the obvious and the conventional to create places unique and special to New Zealand. MAKE has an active design response to health and wellbeing, with consideration to light, textural qualities of materials and space. A growing NZIA registered practice MAKE architects continues to grow with the diverse range of projects undertaken.

Director

Martin is Director of MAKE Architects and Registered Architect with over 20yrs experience in the architecture and construction sector. Specialist areas include community & public architectural commissions within the practice, and high end residential developments. Martin has extensive experience in community engagement processes involving Local Boards, and has been engaged to provide creative solutions for various community facilities. Primary responsibilities as design/project architect he takes projects from conceptual design through to administration and completion. Martin has successfully delivered a number of award winning projects for various clients and the Auckland Council.

​KENNETH SIN

Director

B.Arch BAS (Hons)

Kenneth has been practising architecture for 15 years since graduating from Architecture School at Auckland University.  His work is inspired by a passion for design clarity.  His philosophy is that Architecture is complex, but a well considered solution produces simplicity and legibility. His approach to design is always creative thinking to project specific requirements and his architecture centres around people as the end users.  Kenneth also has a passion for engaging communities. He is co-founder of a Community Trust working with teenage youth in South Auckland.  He enjoys collaboration in the process of developing design and social solutions.

MARK YONG

Senior Architectural Designer

B.Arch BBSC

Mark’s work draws from over 10 years of architectural practice ranging from educational, commercial and high end residential projects. His project work shows a consideration for the transition of light and juxtaposition of materiality throughout. Mark treats documentation as a design project in its own right, it is his belief that design collaboration throughout the process with both client and most especially other disciplines and contractors leads to a successfully delivered and considered design.

DANIEL YIP

Architectural Graduate

M.Arch Prof. (Hons)

Daniel is a graduate of the University of Auckland, with multiple student awards and recognition in New Zealand and Australia. Daniel's Masters focuses on creating a variety of spatial compositions and experiences through model making and furniture making. He treats the exterior, interior, joinery, and even the furniture design as a cohesive whole.

KANADE KONISHI

Architectural Graduate

M.Arch Prof. (Hons)

Kanade is a University of Auckland School of Architecture graduate with extensive design skills. Being a Japanese Kiwi, Kanade enjoys producing work that fuses architecture from both her cultural backgrounds. Kanade’s Masters has focused upon ‘Modernising Traditional Japanese Timber Joinery for Contemporary Timber Architecture’ , using 3-axis CNC machines to mill precise Japanese Timber Joinery.
